SCHOLARSHIPS
The Chinese American Citizens Alliance - Portland Logde offers the Fred G. Lee Memorial Scholarships every year to high school seniors in Oregon State and Clark County of Washington State. Application deadline is April 1st of each year.
We also offer Tiffany Wang Arts Scholarships and an extensive list of other scholarships from companies and organizations around the country that are available to minority students.
Selection
The scholarship recipients will be selected from applicants who have
submitted completed applications to the Selection Committee as directed on
the application forms by April 1st. The recipients will be selected using the
following criteria: scholarship, leadership in school, community activities, and
financial need. Three scholarships will be awarded and at least one
scholarship will be awarded to a student who attends a college in Oregon or
Washington State.
Award Notification
The recipient will receive a notice of award specifying the terms of the award
by May 15th. The recipient shall be required to sign and return one copy of
the award notice acknowledging the terms and certifying that the scholarship
will be used for educational purposes only.
Disbursements
Checks in the name of the recipient will be sent in equal disbursements for
each academic term/semester to the Financial Aid Office of the college or
university attended. Scholarship checks will be presented upon verification
of registration as a full-time student.
Terms for Renewal
- The scholarship is renewable for four undergraduate years. Leaves of
absence from consecutive four-year attendance may be submitted to the
Committee for approval.
- A recipient must maintain normal progress as defined by the institution
he/she attends. A transcript of work completed prior to May 1st must
accompany each request for renewal. A final transcript for each academic
year must be submitted at the end of the school year to the Committee at:

Eligible Students
Applicants must:
- Be a member of the graduating class of an Oregon or Clark County (State
of Washington) high school or its related equivalent
- Hold a 3.50 or better grade point average
- Have at least one parent/guardian who is a member of the Chinese American Citizen’s Alliance
(Portland Lodge).* An application for membership is enclosed with this scholarship application.
- Be active in school and community activities
- Be a United States citizen, or hold permanent resident status
Eligible Institutions
Eligible institutions include any two or four year public or private generally accredited institution.
Amount of Scholarship
Three scholarships will be awarded:
One (1) $4,000 Scholarship - The award is $1000 per year, renewable for four undergraduate years.
Two (2) $1,000 Scholarships - The award is $1000, issued at the freshman year level.

- Each application must include a transcript of all high school work indicating number in class, rank in
class, and SAT scores.
- Applicants must include a statement of educational plans or goals per application form.
- Applicants must include a statement regarding the relationship of educational plans or goals to their
Chinese heritage or knowledge of Chinese Culture per application form.

Application Guidelines
Two students will be selected to each receive $500 towards a summer arts program.
Eligibility
- Be a student of an Oregon or Clark County (State of Washington) high school or its related equivalent.
- Non-senior student (grades 9th, 10th, and 11th) who are interested in attending a summer arts program.
- Have at least one parent/guardian who is a member of the Chinese American Citizen’s Alliance (Portland Lodge).*
- Demonstrated financial need.
- Talent in the fine or performing arts.
Applicants must
- hold a 3.0 or better grade point average.
- be at least 1/4 Chinese.
- include a statement of educational plans/goals in relation to attending the summer camp.
- include sample of work.
- upon receiving the scholarship, must disclose what camp the money will be used towards.
- upon completion of the summer camp, must write 500-1000 words in reflection of their experience.
